From hands-on to strategic: Joey’s career path at Kalmar

Joey started his career at Kalmar in June 2007 as a service technician. Drawn to the company’s innovative spirit and international environment, he saw Kalmar as a place where technology and career development could go hand in hand.

I was looking for a dynamic company with a future-oriented mindset. Kalmar felt like the right fit from day one.

Over the years, Joey has taken on several roles, steadily growing both technically and professionally. After advancing to senior technician, he became site supervisor at the Maasvlakte location, managing a team of six. Today, he works as Service Coordinator for Mobile Equipment, where he combines his hands-on experience with a more strategic, coordinating perspective. “By working hard and embracing opportunities, I’ve been able to evolve within the organisation. Every role brought new challenges, and each helped me grow in a different way.”

What makes him most proud are the everyday successes – helping customers get their operations back up and running with minimal downtime. “When everything runs smoothly at the end of the day, that’s a win for the whole team.” His promotion to Service Coordinator stands out as a personal milestone: “It was a moment of recognition, showing that the company believed in my development.”

Joey describes Kalmar’s culture as open, collaborative and driven by innovation.

You’re encouraged to share your ideas, take initiative and grow. That creates a very motivating work environment.

What makes Kalmar unique in his view is the combination of cutting-edge technology, a strong team culture, and a clear focus on developing its people.

Joey is driven by solving technical challenges and helping customers succeed. He aims to make an impact by sharing his knowledge and supporting colleagues and clients alike. “It’s about teamwork, trust, and the motivation to keep improving – that’s how we create value, every single day.”

His advice to new colleagues? “Be curious, ask questions, and be open to learning from those around you. The more you understand the bigger picture, the more impact you can have.”
